13 Mrz Austausch mit lateinamerikanischen Wissenschaftler*innen und Nichtregierungsorganisationen zum EUMercosur-Freihandelsabkommen
Wie würde das EUMercosur-Freihandelsabkommen indigene Völker und kleine Landwirtschaftsbetriebe in Lateinamerika beinträchtigen? Dazu habe ich mich mit lateinamerikanischen Wissenschaftler*innen und Nichtregierungsorganisationen ausgetauscht.
Wir waren uns einig, dass das momentane Abkommen weder mit europäischen Klimaschutzzielen, noch den Plänen der neuen Regierung Brasiliens um Präsident Lula für ein Ende der Entwaldung bis 2030 zu vereinen ist.
Klar ist: Wir müssen das EU-Mercosur-Freihandelsabkommen stoppen!
Ohne eine Neuverhandlung ist der jetzige EUMercosur-Deal fatal für lokale Gemeinden und Ökosysteme wie den Regenwald und Trinkwasser.
Wir stehen fest an der Seite der indigenen Völker! Rettet den Amazonas!

How would the EUMercosur free trade agreement impact indigenous peoples and family farmers in Latin America? This is what I discussed in a meeting with Latin American researchers and non-governmental organisations.
We agreed that the current deal goes against European climate protection targets and the plans of the new Brazilian government under President Lula to end deforestation until 2030.
What is clear is that we must stop the EU-Mercosur FTA in its current form!
Without renegotiations, the deal has fatal impacts on local communities and ecosystems like the rainforest and drinking water.
