18 Sep. No import of banned pesticides into the EU!
No import of banned pesticides into the EU - this is what I voted for today in the plenary of the European Parliament! Circumventing the ban via third countries is unacceptable. These imported products must not be allowed to enter the European market. The EU Commission wanted to ban pesticide residues in some products from third countries, but others, such as citrus fruits, would have been left out. The Commission's proposals were rejected today by the plenary of the European Parliament. The Commission must now withdraw its proposals and present new ones.
Consumers, farmers, the environment and especially marine life must be protected from toxic fungicides and fair competition must be guaranteed for European farmers.
