EU Commission takes action against low-cost providers like Temu & Shein - high time!

The EU is finally taking action against low-cost platforms like Temu & Shein - high time!

Asian suppliers have flooded the market with cheap products, while European companies have had to comply with more and more regulations. However, these mass imports are not only unfair, but also a danger to consumers and the environment. In 2023, 4.6 billion such shipments reached the EU - twice as many as in the previous year.

Consequences are finally being drawn! The duty-free limit for orders under 150 euros is being dropped to stop distortions of competition. But above all it's about safety! Many imported goods contain substances that are hazardous to health or do not comply with EU safety standards. Online marketplaces must ensure that only legally compliant products are sold.

The focus is also on the enormous consumption of resources caused by the mass transportation of low-quality products. Millions of cheap parcels that are sent every day have a massive impact on the environment and climate - through emissions, packaging waste and short-lived products that are quickly disposed of. In this area too, sustainability and consumer protection must take priority!

These measures are long overdue. It's not just about fair trade, but also about safe products and less waste! Clear limits should finally be set to irresponsible mass consumption.
More quality, less waste, more protection - exactly the right step! 💪
