
24 March Invitation: Charting the Path to Sustainable Economic Development
Our world is facing profound upheavals. The climate crisis, social inequality and political polarization clearly show that "business as usual" in the name of unlimited growth no longer works. We need a new understanding of economic success - one that is no longer based solely on gross domestic product.
The latest World Happiness Report shows impressively that life satisfaction, social welfare and trust are key building blocks of a functioning community - and a strong counterweight to growing social division. Germany is currently only in 22nd place here - another signal that we need to break new ground.
What can a sustainable economy look like that combines happiness, social justice and ecological responsibility?
