Today is World No Tobacco Day! There are still too many people who actively and passively smoke: In Germany alone, around 120,000 people die every year as a result of tobacco consumption. Worldwide the figure is around 8 million. It is estimated that this costs our healthcare system in Germany alone almost 100 billion euros...

Yesterday, the Europe Direct panel discussion took place in Leipzig! I discussed the future of Europe with leading candidates from other democratic parties at the Zeitgeschichtliches Forum. I am convinced that we need a strong Europe in order to achieve ecological transformation on an equal footing with other countries such as the USA or China.
