My home

Saarland is a cosmopolitan, modern but also nature-loving federal state in the heart of Europe. It is located in the immediate vicinity of Luxembourg and France, and Belgium is not far away either.

A European consciousness has not only been created by Franco-German history, but also by the cross-border attitude to life and the lively exchange with our neighbors. Although a third of Saarland is covered in forests, the economy also plays an important role:

Opportunities for sustainable structural change

The steel industry has a long tradition in Saarland, of which we are proud. A centuries-old industry that moves with the times:

In 2020, Dillinger Hütte commissioned Germany's first plant for hydrogen-based steel production. I support the expansion of sustainable hydrogen technologies in combination with the expansion of renewable energies in Saarland and other regions in Europe.

My work for the Saarland

From 2011 to 2020, I was employed in the civil service of my home state as a consultant at the Saarland Representation to the EU in Brussels.

I worked on the environment, agriculture, energy, health and regional policy.

Since July 16, 2020, I have represented the Ecological Democratic Party in the EU Parliament and am the only EU politician from the Saarland.
