My name is Manuela Ripa and I have represented the Ecological Democratic Party in the European Parliament since July 16, 2020. I am also the only EU politician from Saarland. I was born and grew up bilingually in Saarbrücken.
My bilingual upbringing in German and Italian, as well as my proximity to France and Luxembourg, has helped me develop a European awareness since my childhood, which I now represent in the EU Parliament.
As a mother of two children, I also always pay attention to a sustainable and ecological future for future generations.
Subsequently, I was first an officer, then head of an MEP's office in the European Parliament with responsibility for the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE), the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI), the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI) and the Committee on Budgetary Control (CONT).
I also worked as a personal advisor to the Federal Minister of Health. From 2011 to 2020, I worked in the state service as a consultant at the Saarland Representation to the EU in Brussels on the topics of environment, agriculture, energy, health and regional policy.
Thanks to my bilateral education in German and Italian, the proximity to France and Luxembourg during my childhood, my studies in England, Germany and in England, Germany and Italy and my time in Brussels, I was able to get to know many different people and cultures. The European spirit was present everywhere and I too want to work for a free, sustainable and strong Europe.
Every year, Members of the European Parliament now have €4,950.00 per month at their disposal for office costs, events and other costs associated with their mandate.
I use the office allowance to finance: office rent, office organization, communication, equipment, representation, administration, events and my website. I do not receive any additional income other than my parliamentary salary.
To ensure and make it transparent that this money is only used for this type of office expense, I keep the lump sum in a separate account. It is therefore strictly separated from my salary. If there are any surpluses from the office allowance at the end of my mandate, I will transfer them back to the European Parliament.
