11 Apr. 40 years of Schengen - 40 years of living Europe.
I spoke about this today at the network meeting of the Saarland European Movement to mark the 40th anniversary of the Schengen Agreement at the VHS Saarbrücken.
The European idea of opening borders to people, which is associated with the name Schengen, is more than just an agreement for us in the Greater Region - it is everyday life and identity. Especially in times when border closures are once again an issue, it becomes clear how important open borders are for our coexistence.
Thanks to all the committed players from politics, civil society and business for the inspiring exchange!
Let's continue to defend the Schengen idea and live Europe in everyday life. 🇪🇺
