Today I received the news of the completely unexpected death of Christian Baukhage, the closest colleague of the German EU Ambassador Michael Clauß, and I am deeply shocked and saddened. Just a few weeks ago, I spoke with him about our beautiful Saarland, which was very close to both our hearts. He was a really good diplomat and a true ambassador for the Saarland here in Brussels. We will miss him. My thoughts and sympathy are with his family and friends.
