03 Dec. Doing business within planetary boundaries

Together with Friends of the Earth Europe, the Wellbeing Economy Alliance, the European Environmental Bureau, the European Youth Forum and Beyond Growth Europe, I organized today a first exchange in the EP on the question: How can we stay within planetary boundaries through our economic system?

We agree that we want to push the issue in the European Parliament, especially as the newly elected European Commission wants to implement the Clean Industrial Deal in the first hundred days of its mandate. With this deal, there is an urgent need for an economic system that prioritizes human well-being and environmental sustainability, not just GDP growth. In any case, we need to find new ways to organize our economy in cycles instead of linear models that exploit our resources even more.
