15 May Our renewed call to US President Joe Biden: No new LNG gas exports to Europe!
Building on an initial letter I sent with other MEPs to US President Joe Biden in January to stop the approval of further LNG gas export facilities, we have now written again to President Joe Biden.
The latest developments in the US Congress are very worrying, as the LNG pause declared by US President Biden in January is being called into question.
Our demand is clear: The US and the EU should lead the way in working together to rapidly phase out all fossil fuels! The future belongs to renewable energies!
We appeal to US President Biden to maintain the LNG pause and stop the construction of new, unnecessary LNG infrastructure. Further expansion of LNG capacities is superfluous. European demand is more than covered and further approvals would exacerbate pollution problems and have a negative impact on coastal regions.
