"Fateful election for the EU climate protection package" - MEP Manuela Ripa (ÖDP) visits Mönchengladbach

Tuesday, September 21, 2021: On Monday, MEP Manuela Ripa from the Ecological Democratic Party (ÖDP) visited the Manufaktur Restaurant in Mönchengladbach with a lecture on the "Fateful choice for the EU climate protection package". The politician once again made it clear that the current climate policy measures are not enough and will heat the planet to 2.7 degrees or more by 2050, resulting in a massive loss of human and animal life.

Right at the beginning, Manuela Ripa made it soberly clear: "These are not my forecasts, but those of the new UN climate report." The global average temperature is currently heading towards 1.5 degrees from 2030. A decade earlier than predicted just three years ago. What this means for life on the planet has already been felt worldwide this year: heatwaves in North America, fires in the Mediterranean region and heavy rainfall as well as catastrophic flooding in Central Europe.

The MEP explained the European Green Deal, which contains many bright spots but also shadows, to her interested audience. The shadows can be seen in the continued adherence to the growth imperative. In addition, some of the laws contradict each other.

To prevent the summer of 2021 from becoming the new normal, Ripa is appealing to voters to use their vote next Sunday for real ecological change. With her ÖDP party, Manuela Ripa stands for an ambitious and comprehensive program that is committed to consistent climate protection - in contrast to all other parties in the Bundestag.

In the European Parliament, the MEP is particularly committed to the preservation of biodiversity, a sustainable circular economy, the decarbonization of industry, genuine animal welfare and an end to factory farming. She also fights for the protection of consumers in their daily shopping by clearly labeling products - from the use of antibiotics in animal husbandry to possible carcinogenic ingredients in everyday products and children's toys.

The politician's personal appeal is: "A vote for the ÖDP is not a wasted vote, because a vote for forward-looking ideas and concepts can never be lost. Let's not just make the established parties think this year, but force them to change."
