Nature reserves must remain nature reserves!

This week I visited the beautiful Rappenalpbach stream in the Allgäu with Michael Finger from BUND, but the idyll is deceptive: where animals and plants still thrive in a nature reserve today, a hydropower plant is soon to be built. Yes, the expansion of renewable energies is important - but this is climate policy at the expense of species and nature conservation, and that is unacceptable!

The consequences of new projects for flora and fauna are unpredictable. This is why environmental impact assessments must not be undermined.
I say: nature reserves must remain nature reserves - all the more so if they are European nature reserves!
