My questions to Commissioner Kyriakides about the cancer plan!

As part of World Cancer Day, I asked EU Health Commissioner Stella Kyriakides in the European Parliament's Health Committee what the Commission plans to do in principle to prevent cancer. I also wanted to know from her what specific steps the EU Commission is taking to reduce the consumption of foods that could promote cancer.
We are talking here about products with too much sugar, salt, fat and especially red and processed meat.

Our eating habits directly influence our cancer risk - that's why healthy eating is so important! On yesterday's World Cancer Day, I would like to draw attention to the fact that we protect EU citizens preventively through healthy eating!

The Cancer Prevention Plan, which I worked on as a member of the Special Committee on Cancer, clearly shows that healthy eating and informed purchasing decisions can help prevent cancer! But the switch to healthy, sustainable food is still not getting enough attention. That needs to change!

Because prevention is more effective than any cure. It is time that consumers are given the opportunity to make informed decisions. This is particularly important for our children.

My demands: The law on clear labeling of ingredients on food packaging should finally be presented. Our health should be worth it to us to get the relevant EU legislation on its way quickly!
