Today I spoke with Stefan Rauber, CEO of Dilinger Hütte and Saarstahl, about the future of the European steel industry. For me, it is important to support and maintain the domestic steel industry. The steel industry is under enormous pressure from cheap imports from third countries, among other things. We need green steel from Europe, not only to reduce our carbon footprint, but also to switch to climate-neutral production overall.
Therefore, when awarding public contracts, only European steel should be used!
The "Made in Europe" label should appear on all relevant products, thus enabling conscious purchasing decisions. This secures jobs, promotes environmental protection and strengthens global independence!
