My visit to EcoVer!

As part of my role as the European Parliament's chief negotiator for the detergents and cleaning products regulation, I was delighted to visit the company EcoVer.

EcoVer was interesting to me because the company has always been committed to sustainable detergents and cleaning products and is always looking for innovations in this area.

Like now, where they produce high-quality and biodegradable cleaning products using food waste, such as potato peelings.

Most organic chemicals used in industry are still based on petroleum. They should be replaced by sustainably renewable raw materials. However, this can be problematic as the raw materials must not lead to increased land consumption and must not compete with food production. I therefore found the approach of using food waste instead very promising. This reduces the pressure on food raw materials and reduces waste!

In addition to raw material extraction, I also looked at Ecover's ideas for reusing and refilling containers to reduce plastic and packaging waste. I was shown an intelligent refill station that can be set up in supermarkets and used to safely refill products. The machine also prints out a corresponding label!

Many thanks to the entire team for the interesting tour of the production facility and for the informative exchange!
