My visit to the Saarland Wild Bird Sanctuary (WiVo)!

It was a great pleasure to visit the wild bird sanctuary (WiVo) in Püttlingen (Saarland) today!

I learned a lot about their commitment to animal welfare and nature conservation from the volunteers on site. They offer advice over the phone to people who find injured birds and do everything they can to save the birds they bring in, always with the aim of releasing them back into the wild at the end.

Not everyone will know it, but wild birds are important service providers for our ecosystems! They not only serve as an indicator of the state of our environment, but also actively improve our ecosystems by containing pests and diseases, pollinating plants and spreading seeds over long distances.

That is why the work of the wild bird rescue centers in our country is so important!

In addition to the dedicated helpers around the WiVo manager Ms. Becker, Mr. Rudi Reiter and Wendelin Schmitt from NABU-Saarland, who support the wild bird sanctuary, were also on site.

Thank you very much for the great tour!

By the way: a reporter from Deutschlandfunk accompanied the event. It will be broadcast on May 8 at 1 pm. Listen in!
