I presented my report on the revision of the Cleaning and Detergents Regulation to the European Parliament's Environment Committee! Cleaning and laundry detergents are essential products for everyday use and crucial for the implementation of the European Green Deal.

That is why the revision comes at the right time! There will be new rules for innovative products, refill options and digital labeling.

My proposed amendments clearly strengthen consumer protection, health protection and environmental protection. This is the only way we can achieve a climate-neutral, toxic-free and safe European circular economy.

Here are my priorities for cleaning and laundry detergents:

🥕 Ban hazardous chemicals that cause cancer or genetic mutations, for example, and affect the reproductive system or endocrine system!

🥕 Full biodegradability of all ingredients!

🥕 Significantly reduce the use of phosphorus, including in industrial use, to combat the eutrophication of our waters!

🥕 Reduce packaging waste by offering more refill options

🥕 Clear, legible and easy-to-understand labels so that consumers can make informed purchasing decisions!

🥕 Introduce much more visible measuring scales on caps and measuring cups to avoid environmentally harmful overdosing!

🥕 No animal testing, we are in the 21st century!
