Our water is running out! This is also the subject of the Turkish film "Burning Days", which has been nominated for the LUX Awards.

This film award is presented annually by the European Parliament. Until June 12, you, the viewers, can vote on which film deserves the award the most.

Next Tuesday, 06.06.2023, I will open the local screening of BurningDays at the cinema camera zwo in my home town Saarbrücken. After the screening, I will take part in a discussion about the film.

This political thriller by Emin Alper, which premiered at last year's Cannes Film Festival, is not only about the increasing scarcity of water, which is leading to drought and massive problems in agriculture and the population's water supply, but also about the corruption that arises from this.

The fact that water scarcity is becoming an increasing challenge not only in Turkey, but also for us in the European Union, has long been a concern of mine in my parliamentary work in the European Parliament. Among other things, I have campaigned for the European Commission to finally propose legislation on soil health.
Because we cannot do without our ecological foundations of life!

Be there to see this important film (with subtitles) and follow my debate with Nil Berber from the Saarland Ministry of Education and Culture and film composer Stefan Will, moderated by Isa Sonnabend!
I'm looking forward to it!
