Today is World Consumer Day!

Today we are celebrating World Consumer Day! As an MEP for the ÖDP, it is a matter close to my heart to stand up for the interests and health of consumers. Healthy nutrition, a toxic-free environment and the fight against cancer are matters close to my heart.
Very specific improvements to EU rules help us to make more informed purchasing decisions. When it comes to detergents and cleaning products, as chief negotiator in the European Parliament, I have worked to ensure that detergents and cleaning products become more sustainable and that buyers receive clear, understandable and legible information about the products. When it comes to honey, it was also important to me that there should be more transparency on labels in future - in other words, where the honey really comes from and what is in the honey jar. This is because there is a lot of fraud with sugar syrup in honey from third countries.
Children are also at the center of my commitment: switching to healthy food and products free of hazardous chemicals is particularly important here in order not to disrupt their growth and development and to protect their health.
Let's fight together for a better future!
