04 June Vote in the Environment Committee on the Soil Monitoring Act
The European Parliament's Environment Committee today approved the outcome of the trilogue negotiations between the Council, Commission and Parliament on the Soil Monitoring Act.
This is a step in the right direction - because we need a uniform approach at EU level. Healthy soils are essential for our food security, biodiversity and climate protection. Nevertheless, over 60% of soils in the EU are in poor condition.
The law forms an important initial basis for the protection of our soils. Now it is important to defend it in plenary.
